Cignal Connect to provide internet service in Far-flung Areas

Cignal, the leading satellite cable provider in the country will soon offer a new service to the Filipinos. Satellite Internet access is Internet access provided through communication satellites. Modern consumer grade satellite Internet service is typically provided to individual users through geostationary satellites that can offer relatively high data speeds, with newer satellites using Ku band to achieve downstream data speeds up to 506 Mbit/s. In addition, new satellite internet constellations are being developed in low-earth orbit to enable low-latency internet access from space. This internet service was launched in the United States and United Kingdom on 2013. It boosted the internet efficiency of the said countries. The Philippines through Cignal will compete with another satellite to broadband service provider Starlink which is also expected to launch late this year or early next year. TV5 Network Inc. will soon test their DTTB in Cebu

On June 14, 2021 TV5 Engineering team installed a DTTB antenna in their Quiot, Pardo, Cebu City tower. The upgrade was headed by their Engineering Head Rodrigo V. Carandang. Earlier this year, TV5 President Robert Galang announced that they will expedite the building and upgrade of their facilities to digitalization in cooperation with Cignal this 3rd and 4th quarter of 2021. Once TV5 will test their digital broadcast it will include 3 subchannels/programs namely 5, One Sports and One Ph. A Perfect addition to PTV, GMA and BEAM digital programs. Last May 2021, TV5 launched their station ID “Iba sa 5” which shows the vast of choices on TV5 programs from different content providers in the country which includes their competitor ABS-CBN Entertainment.
